Legislation looks to improve work zone safety [VIDEO]

Needless to say, nothing is more important than worker safety across all industries. But in construction, that priority is even more pronounced. New initiatives may improve the safety of the work zone.

Road work is inherently risky without the proper construction tools and safety equipment. On the highway, cars are traveling fast and don’t always see work zones from a distance. That’s why the Work Zone Safety Grant was put into place. The initiative has already reduced casualties in the U.S. by nearly 50 percent and offered better training for construction crews.

It’s imperative that workers wear reflective vests and hard hats, while their managers set up a large, well-lighted area protected by cones and caution tape.
