Want a faster way to commute between nearby cities? Plans are in the works to build high-speed rails across the nation, with California leading the way.
In Europe, China and Japan, bullet trains are part of the existing infrastructure. The U.S., however, has been slow to adopt. But now California is moving forward with its longstanding plan to connect L.A. and San Francisco with a high-speed rail.
The project had received backlash regarding the lack of infrastructure and cost in taxpayer money. But those in favor point to the boost for construction jobs and industries like fasteners and power tools as important benefits.
